Climate change

We are committed to playing our part in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases and helping the UK Government to meet its climate change targets.

Emissions of pollutants such as sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulates are an inevitable consequence of burning fossil fuels in power stations. Authorisations from the Environment Agency for our power stations set limits on the amounts of these pollutants that we can release into the environment. Reducing emissions of these pollutants is a key driver for us in ensuring that we can maintain levels of generation across our portfolio.
