What kind of insurance policies do I need?

Some mortgages will insist you adopt their insurance covers. If this is not the case, it is a good idea to shop around before finalising your mortgage. There are various options available to you:

• Life and critical illness cover - pays either on death or on contracting one of a number of illnesses.
• Building and contents insurance - covers the building and your contents against a variety of risks.
• Accident, Sickness and Unemployment - covers you against unforeseen personal circumstances.
