How do npower prices compare with competitors?
We're competitive. For example, for the average customer we're cheaper than British Gas for dual fuel anywhere in the country*. We could also save you money against British Gas, for gas. To find out how much you could save by switching your electricity and gas to npower use our Quote & Switch form.
*Assumes average annual consumption figures of 20,500kWh of mains gas and 3,300kWh of electricity, paying by quarterly cash/cheque or monthly Direct Debit. Includes British Gas and npower dual fuel discounts where appropriate. The savings include VAT at 5% and are based on npower's standard domestic tariffs and those of British Gas for both electricity and gas. Excludes any internet tariffs, fixed and capped products. All prices correct as at 28/04/08
How can I save money on my energy bills?
Make sure that you're taking your best option with npower. You’ll receive a £100 annual discount* when you take both electricity and gas from us and pay by monthly Direct Debit throughout the year. If you pay for just gas or electricity by monthly Direct Debit throughout the year you’ll receive a £20 annual discount.

* After you've been with npower and paid by monthly Direct Debit without a break for 12 months, you’ll receive a discount off your energy bill. Stay with us and continue to pay in this way and you'll get an £100 annual discount if you buy both gas and electricity, or £20 if you buy just one fuel.
I pay by quarterly Direct Debit - am I entitled to a discount?
Yes. If you take your gas or electricity from npower and pay by quarterly Direct Debit throughout the year you'll receive a £10 annual discount*, or £40 annual discount if you take both.*
* £40 annual discount. Stay for 12 months, pay continuously by quarterly Direct Debit and you’ll get your discount. You get £40 if you take both electricity and gas, £10 if you buy just one fuel. Subject to availability.
My payment methods are different - why can't I have a dual fuel discount?
We give a dual fuel discount to customers who pay for both fuels by monthly or quarterly Direct Debit because we benefit from the cost efficiency and cashflow advantage this automated payment method provides. No other payment methods offer all these.
What happens to my discount if I change my payment methods or the fuels I take from you?
Your 12 month discount period is set on the day you make the change to paying by monthly Direct Debit (MDD) and/or taking dual fuel by monthly Direct Debit from npower. If you already pay for one fuel by monthly Direct Debit and sign up for a second fuel we’ll pay you any discount you have accrued on your next bill. 12 months later we’ll give you your first £100 monthly Direct Debit dual fuel discount on your electricity bill.
Could I be earning a bigger discount?
Our best discount is £100 per year. To get this, take both fuels from us and pay by monthly Direct Debit throughout the year*.
If you currently take only one fuel from npower and pay for this by monthly Direct Debit, you’ll get an annual discount of £20. To increase your discount to £100 a year, switch to npower for the other fuel and make sure you choose to pay by monthly Direct Debit. If you currently buy one or both fuels from npower but pay on receipt of bill, you can earn yourself an annual discount (£20 for one fuel or £100 for both) by switching to monthly Direct Debit. Give us a call on the customer service number printed on your bill and ask to change your payment method.

Do the new discounts and prices apply to Juice?
Yes. Juice is available with the same discounts and at the same prices as our domestic electricity tariff.
